This year’s Upstate Pride March and Festival was a huge success, with a massive and enthusiastic crowd, a mere handful of protesters and a tradition-breaking presentation by Spartanburg Mayor Junie White. Miss the event? Already feeling nostalgic? Don’t worry, Spartanburg Spark was there.

Incidentally, if someone was REALLY into knowing almost exactly how many marchers there were, it should be possible to get a good headcount from the video.
Steve, that was so utterly awesome! THANK YOU! While we were marching, all we could see was our little pocket of people. It was incredible to see how long it took before everyone made it off the depot grounds.
One tiny suggestion: Is there any way to lower the volume of the music during the Mayor’s wonderful speech?
I love having the video to watch — thank you, thank you, thank you!
I wish I could, but the video editing software I’m working with really sucks, and it gives me almost no control over the audio levels. I did upload the mayor’s speech on its own to YouTube, though, so that should address the problem.
Thank you so much for recording this! We just couldn’t make it but I was certainly there in spirit and am glad for the opportunity to see the huge crowd this year. I thought the crowd was pretty big last year but this is insane.
Thank you for this excellent coverage of Saturdays march and of the city council meeting speakers on June 14. I am very proud to be a part of this civil rights movement.
