This week on the HCBR we’re taking on RJ Rockers Bald Eagle Brown. This is a solid English Brown Ale from the hometown brewery. It’s got a nice toasted, chocolate malt flavor, with just enough hops to balance it out. The Bald Eagle Brown isn’t a very complex beer. In fact, it’s pretty uninteresting in a lot of ways, but that’s really more indicative of the style itself rather than anything RJ Rockers is doing here. Brown ales aren’t exactly known for their complexity. Overall, this is just a nice, drinkable ale. Check out the video for more details.

It’s funny to see how you’re going in reverse order of complexity with the beers. I can tell you’re a beer drinker. Starting with the more exploratory….
One of my favorite websites for beer opinions is beeradvocate.com. I’d like to point out that RJ Rockers receives above average favorable reviews!

Beer Advocate is THE site for online beer reviews. I try not to look at the RJ Rockers beers we haven’t reviewed yet, because I want to form my own opinion without too much outside influence, but I have noticed that RJ Rockers beers are rated pretty high, consistently higher than say, that brewery from one county over, Thomas Creek.
I have to say I agree with that too, RJ Rockers beers are much better than Thomas Creek in my experience.
Hub City Brew Review is now on BeerAvocate.com.
Hopefully we will post our reviews on there soon.
Well done, guys!
My favorite part: Your dog coming in to drink water at the end of the review. We’ve got to get you guys some better audio options.
I know. We didn’t notice it at the time. That was Clyde. Like all beagles, he just wants to be part of the show.
I have to love the choice of ending song each week. I look forward to that, just to see what flash from the past theme song you are going to highlight.
I’ve thought about holding a contest one week where we choose a really obscure one and challenge people to name the show. Though I’m thinking that in the age of the Internet, it wouldn’t take long for somebody to search it out. Still, we’ve got one in particular that’s super obscure and might give people a little trouble even with the advent of YouTube and Google.
