So, after the epic, ice-related fail that was last weekend, I’m sure everybody is chomping at the bit to get out and have some fun this weekend. Nothing can stop the awesome train of weekend delight this time! Sure there’s some precipitation coming, and whether we’re looking at freezing rain or just plain rain really seems to be anybody’s guess, but let’s just assume that all we’re going to see is some rain. We can all deal with that, right?
Thursday: Normally a pretty uneventful night in our house, but there’s at least a small possibility that we’ll go out and grab a bite to eat. I’ve had a craving for some pho soup from Monsoon Noodle House for a while, so I’ll be lobbying Manda for that.
Friday: No real plans yet, but odds are we’ll end up filming another Hub City Brew Review. The filming of these things is starting to make for a good excuse to hang out and drink beer. Excellent!
Saturday: I’ll be writing Blog Report, but after that we don’t have anything going on. Still, there’s a chance we’ll head out to The Showroom to catch David Ezell. If not, it’s likely just going to be a night inside watching The Hurt Locker on Blu-ray, which Netflix should be sending soon.
Sunday: Video-O-Rama. After that I’ll be watching the Super Bowl with my Papa. He’s 83 years old now, and we’ve watched the Super Bowl together almost every year since I was a little boy. Once the game is over, I’ll be coming home to write Monday’s “Flying Oskar.”
That’s it for my plans. Do you know of something that I absolutely must do this weekend, lest I be a loser? Let me know in the comments.

I plan to spend all weekend being cynical. That, and celebrating my wife’s birthday. Everything else is just details.
“I plan to spend all weekend being cynical.”
We could have a cynical weekend party. That’d probably be stupid and pointless though.
Tell Erin I said Happy Birthday.
SUPERBOWL!
Friday work.
Saturday..work
Sunday. church, write the yet unwritten installment of Miss Mom, probably do a bit on a few other writing projects, put tax reciepts into order for future filing, and work on an upcoming video version of Miss Mom.
Well actually I will be spreading that Sunday stuff through the week. I have the visual for the video done, it is just working on the audio, a very ambitious sort of project for me….brand new
Oh and I’ll be ignoring the Superbowl…just don’t care.
still debating where to spend my Sat night I have 3 options
1)David Ezell concert at the Showroom
2)Upstate Pride’s Speed Dating @ Club Illisions
3)Upstate Gay men’s Potluck.
Everyone should come to the Chili Cookoff at the Nu-Way on Saturday! It is from 4-7pm. The $5 admission fee will give you all you can drink RJ Rockers beer and unlimited tastes of various chilis, mine among them!
ooo that sounds like fun. but Dang. I don’t get off work till seven. Sigh. I need a social life. Heck. I need time for a social life.
Sounds like I need a babysitter Saturday. Too bad, I think I used mine all up with a sick child this week. Good luck, and if we can swing by, we will!
Friday: Going to dinner at the new Clock of Spartanburg…I’m hearing good things about it!
Saturday: Probably going to the Haywood Mall and Whole Foods.
Sunday: Geaux Saints!
Darryl, come to Speed Dating! What better way to make like twenty new friends in just two hours? And you never know if you might just meet an extra special friend. =)
Friday: About to enjoy dinner at Cornbread to Caviar, then heading out to Southport to see the Van Dangs play!
Saturday: Attending the funeral of Spartanburg’s great Mitzi McCallister (viewing at 1:30, funeral at 4pm at Cudd Memorial Baptist Church on Hwy 9 – Delaney’s is working on setting up an account to accept donations to help with funding; more info to come).
Afterwards, I’ll be lightening the mood and making lots of new friends myself at Upstate Pride’s Speed Dating at Club Illusions on Asheville Hwy from 7pm-9pm.
Sunday: Board meeting and SUPERBOWL!!!!
I guess this is my post-weekend recap:
Friday was a quiet DVR night in front of the fire with ,y sweetie.
Saturday day was errands and such. Saturday evening I helped with the set up and running of the Upstate Pride Speed Dating Event. I am pleased to say it was a great event. About 18 brave souls were willing to play our game and a few other friends came out to support us and watch the fun. The club was so gracious to open early for us, let us take over their space and let us take the door charge. We had merchandise and memberships to sell, too, so we were able to raise a nice profit for the event. We may plan more of these type events. This one was only same gender couples, but we got feedback that the straight single friends of Pride are interested in trying out this game, too! So watch for that.
Sunday was a quiet day for me and my sweetie had to work, which was not fun for Mr. Hang-Over but he earned it! Well, it WAS quiet until just before I needed to head to the Pride board meeting. My son called with a flat tire. He just got his restricted license so this was a new experience, which he handled well. Luckily, he wasn’t far away so I was able to go “coach” him through the steps of a tire change.
The evening was fun. Another couple came over and we grilled out and did NOT watch the game. We opted for “Titanic” of all things, none of us being NFL fans. We thought about watching the commercials but didn’t want to deal with all that football in between! Gotta love youtube – all the best, I am sure, are already there.
