That's great! If you have an idea of specifically what you'd like to write, send me an email and we'll work out the details.

I would love love love to do that, and I bet Lucas would enjoy writing with me. We both work in the non-profit world now. What do I do?

I really liked Root a lot. Lucas is an awesome guy, and Spartanburg could really use his voice these days.

As far as the "do-gooder" stuff, it's definitely one of our weak spots on the Spark. It'd be awesome to have somebody who was willing to cover local nonprofit stuff for us. If you happen to know anybody, be sure to send them our way.

I appreciate it guys. Still, it's just a guy yammering on in a hammock. I'm sure either of you could top it easily.

Do you have stories/blogs about the do-gooder stuff that Spartanburg people are up to? I was really disappointed when I moved here and found out that the magazine Root was no longer being published, because I would have loved helping to write for it.

Cynics are a laid back bunch. It's one of the side-effects of lowered expectations.

Also, I should have specified in my vlog that I wasn't referring to any of my Spark colleagues when I said I had some specific people in mind. Of course, that's not to say that you two couldn't benefit from a little more cynicism in your lives. :)

Mine too! I should be insulted, but I still get a kick out of the idea of a cynic who is so damned laid back.

I'm just dipping my toe in the water here, not looking to call people out for specific things. Besides, keeping things vague can sometimes be the spoonful of sugar that helps the medicine go down.

Having said that, I'm sure that at some point down the road--most likely in a column rather than a vlog--there will be something that merits that sort of thing.

This vlog topic is just screaming for some examples of what it is that you are talking about. I thought I'd hear some in five minutes of ranting! So anyway, it would be nice to hear some examples of where people might be positive about something that they shouldn't be, or things that we should be cynical about, or examples of people being dishonest to themselves with their positive thoughts instead on solving problems. I'm just curious.

We alway need more voices. If you want to write/vlog for the Spark, we'd certainly be interested in hearing more.
