If you’ve ever wondered why YouTube might just be the best entertainment platform ever created, consider the following video. It’s a cover of the song “Loser” by 3 Doors Down as performed by Spartaburg-based acoustic rock band First Burn. By itself, this probably wouldn’t be interesting, and certainly not groundbreaking. But when you consider that it’s also being performed while the lead singer gets a haircut, you start to see why this video would never, ever have existed if YouTube wasn’t around. What a drab world that would be indeed.
It has been a few weeks since we’ve checked in on local geek-culture vlogger Kratos87Fan19, and this week he’s taking a look at the 2007 game Assassin’s Creed. While it’s not a bad post, I sort of miss his more personal vlogs, which he’s done less and less of in recent months.
Of course, there’s a danger of being a touch too personal when it comes to video blogs. For instance, I’m not sure if JuicyBootyKeke really put a great deal of thought into how these not exactly work safe (mostly for language and booty dancing) vids might impact her future job prospects. But at least it’s an honest, nostalgia-free document of a real-world family on Christmas Eve.
And we close this week’s roundup with something that’s not so much a song as an idea of a song yet to come. WordChampBandgeek as a few of these very short musical thumbnail sketches up, and I definitely hope to hear more.
That’s it for this week. If you know of a cool local video I missed, feel free to leave a link to the video and a short description of what we’ll be seeing in comments.
