Sure, it's probably only going to be local theater event of the season, but I'm a little too busy with my extraoridinarily petty minor illness to go.
I suppose I could blame my wife, since she introduced the virus into the situation thanks to having a job involving being around other human being on occasion, but since she’s currently suffering in the other room while trudging blearily through her workday via the magic of telecommuting, there’s little reason to make her feel worse. At least until she’s on the mend, that is.
But the larger point is that it’s absurd for me to even pretend to have any kind of weekend plans, because I can quite literally feel my joints starting to ache, my nasal passage starting to swell, the space behind my eyes starting to throb and my brain turning into something resembling the set of an early 1970′s episode of Dr. Who where lackluster ideas and bad jokes are covered with a thin cloud of dry-ice fog in the hopes that this will fool everyone into thinking something interesting is happening. I have no weekend plans, only missed weekend opportunities caused by microscopic jerks.
So, in attempting to keep the tradition of going first before I ask anyone else to divulge their weekend secrets, I’m going to talk about what I’d probably be doing if I didn’t feel like how a Kenny G album sounds to anyone who actually likes the basic idea of music (i.e., terrible).
Thursday: Desperately race through all the stuff I have to do freelance wise in the hopes I can get it all knocked out before I begin having the intellectual depth of a Stephanie Meyer story.
Friday: Maybe try to post a Listening Party. With any luck, I’ll even be on cold medicine when I write it. Perhaps I’ll even decide that Depeche Mode is local enough for my purposes that week, and have a nice, instantly regrettable ramble. I’ll also be lamenting the fact that I couldn’t make it out to The Santaland Diaries at HUB-BUB, something I really wanted to see, since I can think of no better local or regional actor than Jay Coffman to bring out the sarcastic best of the one-man show based on one of the very best things David Sedaris ever wrote.
Saturday: Assuming I can soldier through Blog Report, I plan on drinking orange juice and watching videos. And sleeping. And regretting that I’m missing out on concerts and stuff. Bah! Who needs all that “fun” when I’ll have so much restless, sweaty sleep to look forward to?
Sunday: Hopefully I’ll be over the worst of it, and be able to catch up on all the stuff I put off during the previous few days. If I’m not feeling better, Video-O-Rama should be an utter joy to post, since it will require trying to explain videos I probably couldn’t follow in the first place.
That’s it for me. How about your plans? I mean, I know I’ve set the bar very high indeed with things like “sleeping” and “complaining,” but surely you have something of merit to counter with.

Thursday: I have a photo shoot this afternoon for a collection of accessories that will soon be available on Etsy. Afterwards, I’ll be calling it an early night in preparation for a long, work-filled weekend.
Friday: Once I’m done with Teh Day Job, I’m probably going to spend all afternoon with some freelance work. Hopefully I can get a nap in. Around 9pm, I’ll be found at Southport on 295 to see the wonderful Van Dangs play. =)
Saturday: I’ll be regretting having stayed out so late and drinking so much at Southport when I’m back at Teh Day Job. Afterwards, I’ll be at my friend’s son’s first birthday party and ready to crash immediately afterwards. I’m sure a pack of rabid hyenas won’t be able to drag me out of bed.
Sunday: Last day at Teh Day Job before my “weekend” starts. Woo! Probably more freelance work and sleep to follow. It never fails that by the time I actually don’t have to wake up at 4:30am the next day, I’m too exhausted from the previous week of work to actually go out and enjoy the night.
Thursday: We’ll probably just stay in tonight and delve into the 3rd season of “Deadwood.”
Friday: Unfortunately, I have to go to Manda’s office Christmas party. It should be a fun night with people I don’t know and likely have virtually nothing in common with. At least the food is free.
Saturday: Santaland Diaries! We’ve been looking forward to this since we first heard it was happening, because we missed it last year.
Sunday: Writing and taking it easy.
Friday – faculty holiday thing
Saturday – continuing to unpack boxes around the new house, get the books on the shelves, and after that, Santaland Diaries. Should be great.
Sunday – more getting things in order, and also baking cookies for our student assistants for Monday.
Wild weekend, I know.
I’ll say this right off…Steve, I am very sorry that you and your sweetie are sick, but danged if you ain’t funny under the influence of Thera-flu.
Friday: order a Christmas present from Little River Roasting Co. for shipping to Texas (don’t read this son of mine), then work.
Saturday: work, would love an after work activity, but apparently I have no social life.
Sunday: go to church and perform in an original skit that I just happened to write for our children’s service, then attempt to rediscover my living room floor under all the toddler strewn toys.
The only plans we have for this weekend are for Saturday:
Sat morning- Boiling Springs Christmas parade. Sigh. I love a parade but so far, the rain has managed to ruin every one that I had planned on attending.
Sat afternoon- taking my daughter to see The Nutcracker. She takes dance at Ballet Spartanburg so she has been talking about the Nutcracker for the past month. I’m so excited about taking her so she can see the “grown-up ballerinas.’
Thursday was son’s bball practice and helping a friend pick a Christmas tree
Today, Friday, is half day work, then raking the neighbor’s yard. (They are elderly and he’s in the hospital after a heart attack and she’s not able to get out.)
Tonight, I *hope* is Santaland Diaries but maybe just a netflix night.
Saturday is NPO work in morning, cleaning in afternoon, then a party at a friends in the evening!
Sunday – off to Asheville for a night. In the Spring, I won a MEal on Wheels raffle and won a dinner out at a nice placeand a night at the Grand Bohemian Hotel, which looks quite decadent! Then we are extending the weekend into Monday and might go see the castle decked out for holiday or just enjoy the day in the mountains.
