We’re all probably feeling a little lethargic after the Thanksgiving holiday, so here’s something to inspire you. It’s a guy rolling around on the floor of a high school to show off to his friends. Sounds lame? Well, he’s rolling around in a very specific manner. Just watch.

I usually don’t include commercials in Video-O-Rama, since the point is to showcase creative, original content rather than just selling people stuff. But, in this case, I’m making an exception. Why? Mainly because in the pre-YouTube/internet era, what you’ll see in the video would have been completely implausible to the point that you might think it was a joke. Instead, it’s legit. What is it? Here’s a hint … “Two rules: No foul language, and no drunks.”

Before we get into this, I should warn you that while the video below does make a nice effort to get Spartanburg Day School students talking about String Theory as one possible means of unifying quantum theory with general relativity, what you probably won’t get from it is any idea what String Theory actually is. But what you will get is a bunch of kids having fun talking about big scientific concepts, and that’s awesome.

If there is one thing I know, it is that I stand not a ghost of a chance if I’m ever challenged to a partywalk contest. These guys, however, seem up to the task. Here’s Upsilon Alpha chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha at the annual Delta Sigma Theta Battle of the Partywalks.

Pipe tobacco store review video blogging? PiToStoReVlogging? I think that JoffreTheGiant is blazing new trails when it comes to this brave new sub-sub-subgenre of internet content. Here, we learn about Sir Tom’s Tobacco Emporium in Spartanburg.

This is an amazing little video. What we have here is an example of just how powerful the human voice can be, and just how powerful a tool the new digital video technology can be when it comes to showing that there is talent — real talent — lurking around every single corner of this town. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so I’ll just introduce them. Here’s Vincent Downing & The Mighty Disciples Of Spartanburg.

That’s it for this week. As always, if you know of a recently uploaded, locally relevant local video that’s worth sharing, by all means post a link to the video in the comments below. If the content is questionable, or something likely to get people in trouble for watching at work, please mark it NOT WORK SAFE.

  1. Thanks for the inclusion, Steve.

The Day School students had a great time making and helping to edit the string theory video, so I’m glad their enthusiasm came through!
