Each week on the Spark we beg, plead and cajole you poor, innocent readers into telling us what you’re up to on the weekend so we don’t have to sift through the local arts coverage and pretend to give you our own badly informed suggestions. After all, you’re a pretty savvy lot, and if anyone knows what’s happening this weekend, it’s you.

And because it’s kind of unfair to ask anyone else to go first, I’ll be more than happy to post my lame plans. This week, they’re really lame …

Thursday: Well, with less than three hours remaining in Thursday proper, I’ll probably attend to some site stuff I left unfinished earlier today and then go to sleep. You see, after getting the Spark back online this morning, I spent most of the day in Asheville catching up on some other projects I’m involved with. And talking up Spartanburg, actually, as rumors about this town have started filtering up the mountain. I brought a pound of Little River Coffee with me as a gift, and if I’m not mistaken I think I actually noticed a hint of jealousy that we have such an awesome local coffee roaster here in town. And while Asheville is definitely a microbrew beer town, several people were curious about the haps at RJ Rockers. Of course, this column isn’t about what I already did, but rather about what I’ll be doing, so let’s move on.

Friday: Normal freelance stuff, Spark stuff and LOTS of site design stuff. While I’d like to pretend that I’m going to make it out to some show Friday night, realistically that’s not going to happen. I’ll be too absorbed in trying to put in motion all my plans for the site.

Saturday: No plans. I’ll probably take it easy and hang out with the wife. Maybe I’ll take her on a date or something. Any good restaurant suggestions?

Sunday: Same as Saturday. It’s not a very exciting weekend, plan-wise.

Now it’s your turn. I seriously doubt you’ve got weekend plans that are somehow less exciting than mine. I mean, I really don’t have any plans for the weekend proper. Surely you have something. So, let’s hear it!

oh please, I can win the lame weekend plans hands down.

Friday: Attempt to clean one room in my house with a toddler underfoot who strews clutter in her wake, then work till nine tonight

    Saturday: work 11-7 then home

Sunday: hopefully as little as possible,

but in reality, interspersed through all that boredom will include

fine tune and submit next week’s Miss Mom, try to work on a rough draft for the following week’s edit the Thanksgiving issue, and begin work on my Christmas song edition.I had so much fun with last year’s, I’m doing it again.

Plus help daughter pack up her apartment in preparation for their temporary move here. She can pack boxes, but not move them by her little pregnant self, and brave my attic to do some serious purging. Move my computer back to my room so they can use my office is in that mix as well.

No all that won’t get done in three days, but my column will get posted by Tuesday.

Friday: Work until 5-ish (Fridays are my craziest days), then go home and paint. I’ve been painting all week. I moved into my house in April and tried to prime and paint the whole house before I moved in, but I got a little overzealous with a couple of rooms involving stripes. Kyle and I finally finished the living room last weekend, and I hope to have most of the dining room done by the end of this weekend. Let’s just say…vertical stripes with no base color. Never again. After that (I can’t only paint what Kyle has taped so far) I hope to start on my novel for this year’s NaNoWriMo.

Saturday: Clean up the house, paint, work on my novel, think of another soapbox to write for the Spark and start on it, at least. Maybe visit Kyle’s parents. I think one of Kyle’s co-workers is having a party or something somewhere, so we will be going to that.

Sunday: Church, painting, and the rest of the day is undecided. We want to see the Sherlock Holmes play at the CCC but it’s a little pricey, so I guess we’ll see where we stand when it comes time to do that. The Spartanburg NaNoWriMo group is meeting on Sunday at B&N from 12-6, I think, so I might pop in there.

Friday – I worked half a day conning strangers kids into opening their mouths so that i may clean their teeth. I buy their trust with balloons and a big prize box! Fridays are usually grocery days for my bf and I, fun times at Costco and Publix. We just finished West Wing, and now don’t know what to do with ourselves.

Saturday – I’m working half a day at the children’s clinic, let the bribing begin. After that, I’m going to see my Mother, she’s been in California for the past 8 months and it will be good to see her. I might drag her to one of my new favorite spots, The Cottonwood trail. The weather is perfect and I have two really excited beagles that love an outing. I might take her to Little River to grab a cup of great coffee as well. After that we’ll head over to my uncles house where he’ll probably make us watch Project Runway… Ok I’m kind of a fan, but not for the drama, for the fashion!

Sunday – I’m on my own, that’s usually my stare at the strange people in the laundromat day. Fun Times. I have a great new washer and a stupid broken dryer.

Well I got to this way too late, but I’ll say that my big weekend with Upstate Pride has been amazing! I spent all day Friday baking goodies for the rummage sale, and Friday evening transporting furniture for the sale. Still made time for my beloved PBR, though. ;)

Saturday was massive amounts of fun with the rummage sale/bake sale in the morning, and the drag show at the Sugar Shack last night. I totally made out like a bandit at the rummage sale and got enough furniture and glassware to completely furnish my new apartment I won’t be moving into for another three months lol. Had a BLAST at the drag show. The kings and queens and our host, Roxy C. Moorecox, were AMAZING!

Today I’m in recovery mode- slept in late, enjoying some hot tea and chicken noodle soup to soothe my aggravated throat from screaming all night at the drag show. I was planning to be extremely lazy and stay on the couch all day for once, but it’s SO NICE outside, I think it would be a crime not to go on a picnic. =)
