Demonic nurses in fetish gear? Why does Halloween only come once a year?

Demonic nurses in fetish gear? Why does Halloween only come once a year?

It’s Thursday! And do you know what that means?! Time to brag and/or gripe about our respective weekend plans! How exciting! (Hence all the exclamation marks!!!)

If you’re not up to speed on our Thursday tradition, here’s the gist: I ask you to share, telling all of these other outstanding readers what your weekend plans are. They don’t have to be exciting or wild, and the real purpose is more to share ideas and cool events than to showcase how cool or lame you or your plans actually are. (Although, given that it’s Halloween weekend, hopefully at least your Saturday plans are interesting.)

And since my weekend plans generally aren’t anything special, I go first. This is partially to get the ball rolling, and also to set the bar very low for everyone else, lest they think their plans simply aren’t interesting enough to share.

So, let’s start …

Thursday: Lots of work. Our power at the house was out for most of the day on Wednesday, so I’ve got a lot of catching up to do on freelance work and Spark stuff. Nothing specifically planned tonight, although I may watch a nature documentary or something if I’m done before it gets too terribly late.

Friday: Quite a lot of work, then probably a Halloween party with some neighbors. There are lots of parties happening this weekend, so I may have to prioritize. Also, I don’t have a costume, and don’t know if I’ll have time and motivation to try and get one by tomorrow. I guess I’ll just dress in my everyday costume, as I kind of look like a longshoreman on his lunch hour most of the time. There’s also a 25% chance we’ll go to the Purgatory event at Ground Zero, which is being billed at the “largest fetish show to ever hit the upstate,” and should be at least memorable.

Saturday: More work, possibly more parties. Or maybe we’ll play it cool and give away Halloween candy to kids or whatever. We bought some candy of a sort neither Erin or I actually like, so if we don’t give it away, it’ll probably end up in the back of a cupboard until next Halloween. Failing either of those, we may just have a few drinks and watch some kind of nature documentary or indie film on demand or something.

Sunday: Most likely, we’ll be recovering from Friday and Saturday. No other plans.

See what I mean? My weekend isn’t anything spectacular, and almost anything you’re doing is guaranteed to be more interesting. So show me up! Tell us your weekend plans!

Coma Cinema Backseat Dreamer and Total Control are playing a free show friday night downtown at the old Kimbrell’s building

  2. Thursday: Manda is house-sitting for her uncle this weekend, so it’s just me and the kid tonight. I’ll probably just watch World Series game 2, and go to bed. I know that seems pretty lame, but I’m actually kinda looking forward to it.

Friday: Not sure at all. We’re not cool enough to get invited to anybody’s Halloween party, so it’s all up in the air.

Saturday: There’s a decent chance we’ll end up at one of the Halloween goings-on around town. Hub-Bub’s “Evenin’ of Earthly Delights” at the Brasserie looks like it’s going to be pretty cool. Manda had an idea for a cool costume for me, but we’re kinda broke right now so that may not happen. Still, good times WILL be had somewhere.

Sunday: Writing Monday’s column and catching up on some Netflix.

    Steve,
what kind of candy is it? Should we just skip your house? I (uh, I mean my kids, yeah the kids) don’t want craptastic candy-just the good stuff, please.

    Friday-finish (I mean start) making V’s costume.
Saturday-get the kiddos all gored up, trick or treating in the ‘hood, then party after.
    Sunday-UU and napping.

I was out of town but had something totally cool and awesome happen! I was able to meet Congressman John Lewis and personally thank him for all his hard work. AND I had my photo taken with him in front of my home church in Atlanta. I’m still saying “Wow” in my head! I shook hands with and thanked the man who led the march across the bridge in Selma in 1965 when I was still a toddler. Amazing man and I’m so honored!
