Let’s start this week’s Video-O-Rama off with a taste of a rare delicacy in these parts: Soupa De Tortuga. And while some people may take issue with eating these shelled creatures — let’s not forget how dangerous the adolescent ones can be with the right ninja training — we are informed that the meal is at least not illegal.

Curious about the history of the Spartanburg library system? Well, if you have one minute and 28 seconds, Todd Stephens will give you a brief rundown of the basics. It’s great conversation fodder for impressing that cute librarian you’ve had your eye on!

While teen pregnancy isn’t the easiest subject to discuss in a commercial-length format, this locally made PSA — written, acted, and produced by the Mayor’s Service Board — handles the topic fairly well, without playing into blame or melodrama.

Here’s a very interesting document of Spartanburg’s musical history: A performance by Spartanburg-based punk act The Jitters from long-closed venue Dawg Gones. There’s a vague date on the video — “early ’90s” — but very little other information that could help give it some context, such as the name of the male vocalist in the dress. If you know some details, please leave them in the comments. The video is kinda not work safe for language.

And we close this week with a “long weekend montage” of skate videos from the Hot Spot Skatepark. Given the long, slow process behind making the skate park a reality, it’s great to see that there’s plenty of local talent putting the park to use. The music is arguably not work safe.

That’s it for this week. If you know of a cool, recently uploaded, locally relevant video that we missed, please leave a link to it and a short description in the comments.
