On a typical Thursday, I’ll ask you, the Spark‘s outstanding readers, to share a few of the highlights of your weekend plans in an effort to pull from our vast, deep pool of collective knowledge about what’s happening here in the city. And, as a means of getting the conversation going, I start things off by telling you my weekend plans.

There’s a hiccup this weekend: I don’t have any plans.

So, just for kicks, I thought I’d change things up this week. Instead of you telling the rest of us about your plans, I’d like each of you to tell me what my weekend plans should be. Ideally, you’d do this by saying “Here’s what I’m doing, and here’s why you should do it, too.”

I mean, who doesn’t like giving advice on what other people should do with their free time? So, let’s hear some suggestions.

Of course, if you’d rather just say what your weekend plans are, that’s awesome too. I mean, the end result could realistically be that I spend my weekend watching episodes of The Golden Girls on Hulu.com when I could have been doing something cool — if only you’d shared! — but I can live with that grisly fate if you can.

A varying gaggle of my friends and associates gather each and every Thursday at Hickory Tavern because my in-a-rut SO loves oysters and loves a bargain. (Oysters are half price on as part of HT’s “Stimulus Package” daily specials.) The more the merrier, come on down.

I think I know a new npo (www.madisonshouse.org) in town that is having a work day Saturday morning; I can hook you up if you are up for that. I think mostly it’s minor painting projects around the new facility and some light yard work. There is a brand new facebook group for Madison’s House which has a wishlist posted and will become a place for us to highlight things going on there.

The rest of my weekend consists of various chores, many of which are part of my commitment to Upstate Pride fundraising. (Thanks for the opportunity to plug!)

I am NOT an official spokesperson for the group, but I am involved in several tasks preparing for next year.

On 11/7 there will be a “We’re Cleaning Out The Closet” rummage sale – all proceeds going to Upstate Pride’s ongoing plans: obtaining our 501(c)3 status, planning next year’s events, etc.

Between now and then we are accepting donations big and small for the above mentioned sale as well as an upcoming silent auction event date TBD. I am willing to help transport donations to our holding facility. I don’t want to share my cell phone # here, but you can email fundraising@upstatepridesc.org and the fundraising chair can hook you up, too.

While I am prattling on about NPOs – - – there is also a Halloween Party fundraiser for Upstate Pride at the NuWay on 10/24th. There is a group on facebook with the particulars posted there. It is shaping up to be a fun night!

I am painfully boring and have no plans for tonight or Friday since my husband is out of town. But given my love of the street festival, there is a good chance that the kids and I will head out to Fall for Greenville on Saturday. And on Sunday, I am going to take my son out to celebrate the removal of his cast- he broke his leg 6 weeks ago and is scheduled to get it off tomorrow so to celebrate, he wants to go to Barnes and Noble. And who am I to turn down a trip to a book store?
