Starting today, and running until next Saturday, we’ll be accepting nominations for the 2nd Annual Sparkle City Blogger Awards. As with last year’s contest, these awards are for outstanding blogging in the Spartanburg area, and in several different categories.
To qualify, any nominated blog must be based in the Spartanburg area. For reference on local blogs, please refer to the Sparkle City Blogs website.
Since we’re hosting the awards, both SpartanburgSpark.com and SparkleCityBlogs.com are not eligible for nomination. Also, for the sake of fairness, the personal blogs of our two staff writers, FlyingOskar and Sylvie Is A Blogger are not eligible.
Please post your nominations by copying the text below, pasting it into the comments field, and filling it out there. You may nominate your own blog.

Next Saturday, we’ll put up a poll with the nominees’ sites. We’ll take another week for people to vote on the respective blogs, and announce the winners on Saturday, Oct. 17.
The winners will get a digital certificate from the Spartanburg Spark & Sparkle City Blogs, as well as not insignificant bragging rights. (Several of last year’s winners are currently displaying theirs on their sites.) And, just for kicks, a free banner ad on the Spark, too. I’ll even make the ad for them.
So, let’s hear some nominations!

what are you considering as local? 50 miles? 100 miles? What is local in this global world we live in.
OP: “To qualify, any nominated blog must be based in the Spartanburg area.”
I’m guessing anything outside Spartanburg county does not qualify. I hope that helps.
GregBrown is bound by no rules. He’s like a ronin mixed with a loose cannon mixed with Prometheus mixed with a Yeti.
For clarity, let’s say you’re totally safe if you’re blogging in Spartanburg County. Exceptions would be really good bloggers in bordering areas like Greer or Gaffney who write regularly about the region in general, and occasionally Spartanburg in particular.

Most insightful: The Fat One in the Middle. This blog is awesome in every single way. I especially like her “10 Reasons Not to Fuck a Libertarian”. Priceless yumminess!
Best Political: Seeding Spartanburg
Most Articulate: Jameelah Lang’s blog over at Hub-Bub. I’ve really been enjoying her posts.
Best visual/photo blog: Slobot owns this.
I’ll try and add some more later.
I’m going to be completely non-original and go with Chris’s answers for The Fat One in the Middle, Seeding Spartanburg, and Slobot. It doesn’t hurt that Slobot got a shot of my daughter playing with the oral HIV testing strip and the giant mouth at the Piedmont Care booth at the Pride festival this summer!
Best mommy blog-Keep It Together(www.staskawalker.blogspot.com). I love Jess and her parenting is totally enviable!
Self nomination feels kinda precarious, but why not?
