Let’s just get this out of the way, right from the start: WSPA profiles a 72-year-old “pole-dancing granny” learning the strip-club moves here in Spartanburg. Don’t worry, it’s safe for work.
To me, it sounds like some post-apocalyptic tournament straight out of a Philip K. Dick story: You have 11 days to ride across America by motorcycle, but instead of going straight across you have to make it to various checkpoints. In order to qualify at those check points, you must visit “bonus” locations — generally hundreds of miles off the ideal route between check points — and provide specific kinds of proof (a photo or receipt, generally) that you’ve actually been there. The cross-county trip generally ends up being an 11,000 mile endurance contest. And the prize? Just bragging rights, since very few riders make it to the end. This year, the Iron Butt Rally began in Spartanburg. Here’s a video of the start.
Local vlogger Dani has mixed feelings and plenty of insights about the early end of season three of the Life According To Us project.
I like to end each week’s Video-O-Rama on a song, and this week is no exception. Here’s Aaron James and the Adrenaline Junkees perform “Anyway the Wind Blows” at their CD-release show at the HUB-BUB’s Showroom.
Know of a cool, recently uploaded local video that I missed? Tell us about it in the comments and post a link. Just be sure to note if it’s not safe for work.
