Who doesn't love local improv comedy?

Who doesn't love local improv comedy?

It’s Thursday once again, and that means it’s time for me to pester you about telling all of us your weekend plans. That’s right, instead of playing the old-media game where the media outlet tries to seem all hip by recommending things you should do this weekend (never mind that they don’t know who you are, what you like, or anything that’s going on outside of the press releases they’ve gotten), over here at the Spark, we do the exact opposite. After all, you’re a savvy bunch, and if anything, you’ve probably got a much better idea of what to do this weekend than I, as the writer of this blog, do.

Of course, it’s lame to ask someone else to do something you aren’t willing to do first. So here I go …

Today: Hanging out at Bob’s Pretty Good Bookstore, helping him get his computer issues worked out. If you haven’t been, it’s kind of like what would happen if you took a standard used bookstore and said “You know what I hate? All this organization, that’s what!” Great books, though. Tonight, I’m staying in with the wife, as we’re finally getting around to watching season five of The Sopranos.

Friday: Lots of freelance stuff during the day, but after that, I’m heading up to Asheville to visit with friends. If I was staying in town, though, I’d be catching The Consumers at Sonny’s Brick Oven Pizza.

Saturday: It’s July 4, so the idea of making concrete plans is probably a bad one. If past history is any indicator, I’ll end up at someone’s house watching various explosions.

Sunday: Recovery from the 4th, I’d imagine.

Also, on Tuesday (not part of the weekend, granted), I’ll almost certainly be going to the Chris & Jeff Show over at Hub-Bub. I’m a sucker for improv comedy.

OK, I’ve done my part. Now, it’s your turn. Let’s hear about your weekend plans.

Today: I’m holding the fort down at work while everyone is away on vacation. Tonight I will try to finally unpack our last few boxes and bags, getting the house ready for this weekend. Not that we’re throwing any parties or anything, I just want my house clean!

Friday: I am off work, my husband isn’t (not likely anyway…he gets different answers from every supervisor he talks to about whether they are off or not). We will probably lay around playing Nintendo for a while until he goes to work, then I’ll vacuum, mop, and scrub the house since all the boxes WILL be unpacked. Then, I’m going to meet with my knitting girls at church at 6 to knit the night away.

Saturday: I have no idea what our plans are. Kyle’s parents will probably call us either tomorrow night or Saturday morning, asking us if we’re coming. Or his sister will say an offhand comment about “that thing on Saturday” and I’ll be like…”What thing?” And she will reply, “Our family thing at so-and-so’s house at such-and-such time.” Then I’ll reply, “Well shiz, no one told us!”

Sunday: We have church in the morning, then I have a couple of friends coming over around noon to cook and eat with us, then we’re going to spend the rest of the day watching Kubrick movies.

Tuesday: Like Steve, I know Tuesday isn’t on the weekend, but I, too, am attending the improv show!

I’m headed home briefly after work to pack my things and then headed up to Asheville tonight for the Jenny Lewis/Heartless Bastards show at the Orange Peel. Following that, since I have the 3rd and 6th off for the holiday weekend, I’ll be driving over to Lake Junaluska, NC, where my mother’s family has a cottage and joining her, my uncles and their families and several cousins for a fun, relaxing weekend together in the mountains.

  3. I plan to play some shuffleboard at the laundry mat today, then it’s off to the commune to make some stained glass origami and macaroni pictures. Afterwords there’s this smokin’ symphonic kazoo orchestra parade I plan on marching in, and tonight I’m off to the cake flavored pie eating contest. Tomorrow there’s the psychedelic slip ‘n slide marathon and then relaxing in the hottub around the campfire. -..but who am I kidding here? I’ll probably just sit around in my PJ’s drinking coffee google’ing crazy art to put on facebook all weekend, as usual. Dang I need a car.

Tonight: working beer booth at MoM – not my favorite plan but my friend needs the help.

Fri – Tues: off into the woods camping with the SO, but don’t get any ideas! The house-sitter is a cop.

I hope we aren’t too pooed on Tuesday, because I want to see the improv, too.

Tomorrow-just hanging out with the fam.
    Sat.-Going to a friend’s for 4th festivities and debauchery
Sun-UU…and then, hmmm-I know I have something going on, though I’m not sure what?

If there’s any Cravin Melon fans out there, they are playing a reunion concert at the Freedom Blast in downtown Greer on Saturday. I think it’s at 8pm and free. After there will be fireworks.
