What’s been the haps on the local blogosphere? There’s only one way to find out, and that’s to dive in headfirst to this pool of online content here in Spartanburg.

Rawr! A sky dragon!

Rawr! A sky dragon!

Over at the 4P Photoblog, Craig Lee does a little sky-gazing. And with the right kind of eyes, even something as mundane as a few high-atmosphere clouds can look new and interesting.

A photograph from a couple of weeks ago. I think I see a dragon’s face in the clouds. Do you? It is more of an Oriental style dragon than a European style one if that helps.

Spartanburg-based family attorney Ben Stevens — aka The Mac Lawyer — is something of a tech-celeb in the legal world, owing to his devotion to the Apple platform’s applications for lawyers and law offices. Recently, he was interviewed by GSA Business (that is, The Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson business journal) about his OS advocacy.

GSA Business: For starters, how did you become this guy enthralled with Mac computers?
Ben Stevens: The Mac part came about out of frustration in dealing with PCs. With the expense and downtime we got to the point we couldn’t afford to have them in a busy practice.
Having worked with Macs in college and law school, I knew it was a stable platform, and we just decided as a firm to bite the bullet and make the switch. Since then our tech support and overhead has dropped to basically nothing. We do still have a (Microsoft) Windows server, so our computer guy comes every once in a while to do that. But as far as the Macs, they work and they keep us working.

Gary Coats over at the Conservatist gives us the crib notes from the recent South Carolina Federation of Young Republicans. Some of the more choice moments include these choice quotes (or perhaps paraphrases) from craigslist-fightin’ S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster, who will almost certainly seem sincere or absurd, depending on your political bent …

We must remember we are not angry with our Democrat friends. There is real hope for them. They are real kind one on one, but in a pack they can get real mean.

And …

South Carolina is full of hope, just look at the fans that continue to go to Williams Brice Stadium year after year to support the Gamecocks.

Then there’s …

I want to be governor. I am the only one to have executive experience. I worked with Reagan. I went after craigslist, created a great cdv program, and we have locked up 157 child predators.

Pasture rose, butterfly weed and more.

Pasture rose, butterfly weed and more.

Meanwhile, back on terra firma, Helen over at Middlewood Journal tells us about Pasture Rose, Butterfly Weed and other May wildflowers …

Today is all about the flowers. The ones I drew were all growing on the pipeline, near the top of the hill where our bench sits facing southwest. It was cloudy and very gnatty, the kind of gnats that like to fly into your eyes and ears, which could very well be used as a form or torture. The Yellow-billed Cuckoos were calling from the treetops again today – Cuck-cuck-cuck-cuck-cuck-cuck-cuck-cuck-KALP! KALP! KALP! and the ever present Wood Thrushes.

Of course, this is just the merest glimpse of what’s happening in the local blog scene. To read more local blogs, visit SparkleCityBlogs.com the Spark‘s sister project which aims to create a comprehensive list of them.
