It has been more than a month since we last posted a regular Blog Report, owing to the Sparkle City Blog Awards (which took three weeks) and the recent round-up of local Mommyblogs. During that time, I was able to give the Spark‘s sister project, SparkleCityBlogs.com, a major facelift and add in an RSS feed to help keep readers up to date with the happenings at all their favorite local web-logs. As you can imagine, we’ve missed quite a lot of activity in the meantime.

Let’s start with the happenings over at 4P Photoblog, where Craig Lee posted some very interesting Silhouettes of some downtown structures a few weeks back.

Christopher George over at Flying Oskar recently posted his thoughts on Church Craziness in the area, particularly as it relates to Father Jay Scott Newman of Greenville’s St. Mary’s Catholic Church, who recently said that people who voted for Barack Obama shouldn’t be allowed to take communion.

Hub City Historian Brad Steinecke wrote about the conundrum of historical preservation versus energy efficiency, which is destined to become a hot topic as more green-oriented people begin to occupy Spartanburg’s historic areas.

I Wanna Fly‘s Bad Bob may have to change the name of his blog — he’s already flown! That’s right, Bad Bob is now officially a test pilot!

Blogger Jamie A Steele has been helping to defend his church’s beliefs against that most diabolical of adversaries — other Christian churches.

Want to see awesome drawings of plant life? Helen Corell’s Middlewood Journal has you covered. Just check out her depiction of Arrowwood, for instance.

Myles Will Save Us All was voted “Funniest Local Blog” for a reason. This week, for instance, Myles Griffin has decided that Miley Cyrus is, in fact, the anti-Christ. He also informed us about a new blog project he’s involved with, the video-game blog Shoryuken!, which promises to be very interesting indeed.

HUB-BUB Artist In Residence Patrick Whitfill has been keeping us up to date. He recently posted about a recent week involving Two Movies, Some Spam, and an Invite.

Sparkle City Blogs Award-winning writer Reeva*Dubois recently posted about some recent purchases, including a hard-not-to-make-fun-of shot of a seemingly complete collection of Will & Grace DVDs.

Evan over at Scrambled Brain has been posting all kinds of interesting stuff recently, but Writing & Computers: The “final” week of class is opens an interesting window into what it’s like to be a student today.

Another Sparkle City Blog Award-winner, Seeding Spartanburg, recently posted about the bad situation Will Rothschild has found himself in after losing the election for House District 32.

Spartanburg Libertarian recently posted a rallying cry to unite local Libertarians and use the momentum from the recent election to further establish the party’s presence in the region.

Sylvie is a blogger wants us all to consider the benefits of recycling.

Dani over at the newly launched local blog The Downtown Scoop tells us about a false fire alarm that recently went off in her building.

Meanwhile, The Plastic Breech of Contracted Blues has been spreading viral meme goodness. (“What is this? Get real. I’m in love with sea horses.”)

That’s it for this week. If you enjoyed this brief digest of the local blog scene, there’s plenty more to be found at SparkleCityBlogs.com.

  1. Thanks for the mention Steve. You can keep calling me Chris in the roundup if you want. Seeing you use my full name on the blog roundup makes me feel pompous. I only decided to put my full name on my blog because someone I know had said that not having it on there made it seem like I was hiding behind the anonymity of the computer.
