What happened this week in Sparkle City’s vlog-o-sphere? We’ve checked out the recently uploaded YouTube videos tagged with “Spartanburg” to find out.

We start this week’s Video-O-Rama with an admission of a glaring oversight in our coverage of the music scene in Spartanburg. Local hip-hop venue Club Hush has gotten a bad reputation over the years, owing largely to a number of shoot-outs and violent crimes that have taken place just outside its doors. But, looking at this promotional video, the place doesn’t seem to bad.

Speaking of much-maligned venues here in Spartanburg, Ground Zero has had its fair share of negative press over the years. We should blame the thrashing, angry sound of metal and punk for the image, right? As this video of folk-metal band Eluveitie shows, even a flute and a violin can be pretty hardcore in the right hands.

While we’re on the subject of music, it’s worth checking out this video of the 16th Annual Moonshiners Reunion, which was uploaded by Spartanburg Spark contributor Bryan “chAng” Teague. But chAng didn’t actually film the video; he was onstage with the band, the last-minute replacement for Plum Hollow Band bass guitar player Kevin Johnson, who was injured in a car accident on his way to perform. Props to chAng for stepping up to the plate to help friends in need.

That’s it for this week. If you know of a cool local video we missed, please let us know by leaving a comment.
