After three weeks of procrastination, I’ve finally found the time to create user-submission forms for the Music Calendar and Events Calendar. These haven’t been completely tested yet, but I think they’ll work well enough for this first version of SpartanburgSpark.com.
The only downside — and it’s kind of a big one — is that to submit an event, you have to have a user account on SpartanburgSpark.com (it takes just a moment to sign up) and you have be logged in. (I think I’ve fixed this. If not, let me know.)
If you have an event you’d like to submit, please give it a try. As always, you can e-mail press releases and other information directly to me at publisher@upstatespark.com.

~ I didn’t look in the google box at the top right first, just the page of text, as one would read a normal article on this site, and I didn’t see the SoapBox Sessions for the 24th so I filled out the form for it, then I saw it in the top google calender above, the description you filled out that is. I don’t see my added entry in either location after I submitted it though. This could have been because it was already in the top box though I imagine.
~ One thing I wondered as I filled it out, is if you were asking for my e-mail address or a contact address for the venue. I assumed for the venue so that’s the one I entered.
~ I’m registered at this site but I tried it while I wasn’t logged in.
~ Good feature addition by the way.
Thanks for the feedback, chAng. In a way, it doesn’t matter which e-mail address goes in the contact box, since it’s mostly just a way for me to get in touch with the person submitting the event if I need to clarify something. The venue or the submitter should be able to do that, although it’s probably easier for the submitter. I can probably clarify that bit in the form, though.
The reason your event didn’t show up a second time is that the process isn’t automated. It’s basically an auto-mailer, sending me the info via e-mail so I can manually enter it. I’m sure there’s a way to completely automate the process, but having been a calendar editor for many years, I’d rather make sure the content is in a consistent format and is written for clarity — something I can’t expect a out of someone who just wants to tell me about an event.
Really, the big goal here is just to save people the extra step of having to e-mail me directly.
